Ankeny Animal Health Clinic

We used this vet for several years and, for the most part, our experiences were positive. Most recently, I brought my dog in for a routine dental cleaning. When we got him home, we noticed what appeared to be razor burn in the area where he had been shaved for a blood draw. Within two days, that spot had developed into an open wound, and a second bruise appeared nearby. We brought him back to the clinic and were given an ointment, which we were charged for despite the injury clearly occurring as a result of the clinic'c care. By day four, the wound had reopened, and we were unable to apply the ointment as instructed. I was very disappointed with how the situation was handled and with the lack of accountability shown by the clinic or it's follow up. As a result, I canceled our future appointments and will not be returning. UPDATE: We purchased a neck guard on our own and had our pup wear it for about a week. The wound healed nicely, but this was entirely due to our own efforts, with no meaningful guidance or assistance from the clinic. Unfortunately, this experience confirmed our decision not to return.

I've been an established customer since the mid 90's. I have never been so disappointed when I tried to make an appointment for my established dog and a new puppy and was told I would have to pay in advance to make appointment because in 2024 when my soul dog was sick I had a problem with my credit card. I was able to get the bill paid within the next hour thanks to a family member. It was because of this incident they were demanding upfront payment. I have always paid for my services and with all prior services I always got a general idea of what the bill would be because I paid in cash. With all this said I feel that they dropped the ball with my baby girl she died with no answer. And they dropped the ball with me when I tried to make appointments for my established dog and new puppy this year. They made me feel like a dead beat customer and mostly it made my heart hurt. Now I have no established vet. My dogs are all current on their shots no thanks to this clinic but now it makes me distrustful of all vets and their motives for practicing. Shame on you.

We Love AAHC! The veterinarians here are so kind and patient with our dogs. We thankfully have never had a bad experience here. The pricing is very fair and they are always upfront about everything in the appointments. The vet techs are also some of the best! This crew deserves a huge shoutout!
